Murex has been independent and relentlessly focused on its mission for over 35 years. MX.3 is our powerful, third-generation integrating platform. MX.3 has seen over EUR 1 billion in investment in 10 years—it is among the most ambitious research and development programs in fintech. The start-up years

Two graduates spot a gap in the market—a lack of real-time trading tools to manage MATIF options risks and hedging. A young team of talented developers and capital market experts create the first options trading and risk platform.

1990 1995

A cross-asset platform debuts

Over time, working closely with clients and listening to their challenges, Murex extends the platform to support other verticals and becomes cross-asset to remove the problem of siloed trading. Its client base grows quickly. Offices open in New York and Tokyo.

1996 2000

Integrated solution is a market first

Murex delivers a market first by extending functionality to create a fully integrated platform, supporting cross-asset front-to-back-to-risk management, helping clients meet reconciliation issues across the front oﬃce and back oﬃce.

2000 2005

New millennia, new platform

A second-generation cross-asset front-to-back-to-risk platform launches. With MX Generation 2000, regional banks can now centralize and visualize trading and risk in one application. Hedge funds can benefit from advanced real-time analytics and real-time solutions, facilitating asset owner aims to diversify and invest in derivatives.

2005 2010

MX.3, the integrating solution, is born

Continued investment allows Murex to launch its third-generation cross-asset front-to-back-to-risk platform. MX.3 supports native integration of funding, collateral management, clearing and real-time risk management. MX.3 leverages the latest developments in distributed architecture to enable enhanced scalability and rapid deployment.

2010 2015

Responding to new regulatory scrutiny

Following the 2008 crisis, regulators pass legislation requiring the convergence between front-oﬃce and enterprise risk functions for better transparency and clarity. To help its clients meet these new regulatory demands, Murex develops an enterprise collateral management solution for market, credit and liquidity risk.

2015 2020

Transitioning to the cloud

MX.3 becomes one of the first platforms to embrace the possibilities of the cloud and partners up to provide more ﬂexible deployment solutions. Murex debuts MX.3 for Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB).

2021 2021

Embracing continuous evolution

Murex evolves its client-facing organization with a geographical and functional focus. The teams are developing expertise to answer future challenges with a focus on test automation, continuous integration, production management and software as a service (SaaS), in addition to deep functional and technical expertise.
